Life can be stressful, but navigating your life in your twenties could rival a sand storm in the middle of the Sahara dessert.
The constant doubt on if you are walking on the right path, that’s if you even have a path to begin with. The fears of being behind when everyone else seems to be making headway. The fear of not having enough. The fear of being poor.
The fear that one day you would wake up, and feel like the whole world has formed a coup against you and you are running out of time. The fear that you might end up being that uncle/aunty whose life you so greatly despised. The fear that you might never find the one, that your happily ever after for what it’s worth is only a dream, your dream.
In spite of all the thoughts and fears, that seems to be weighing war against my soul, I choose joy.
I choose joy, because I know that this very moment I have would never come back. And to spend it mopping around means it would be lost forever into the countless ages as a moment spent in sadness.
I choose joy, because I know that the same time it take worrying ,is what it take to read a book on finance and actually learn something beneficial on how money works.
I choose joy, because I know that happiness is only a thought away, my brain only focuses on what I focus on, So why not focus on the beautiful patterns and moment of bliss that life has so graciously offered .
I choose joy because I know that while tomorrow is not promised, today is here, and most time that’s all that matters.
I choose joy, because I remember the fear I had when I was writing my first exam in university . The fear of never becoming. But here I am with a degree . Sometimes , the very thing we fear might never happen. But even when they do happen ,life still goes on.
I choose joy, because I know that there is a God in heaven, and I belong to him. That he is working behind the scene. And though my butterfly is not yet come out of its cocoon, surely there is an end.
I choose joy because I am the main character of my life, and joy is what I choose.
Long walks on the beach, reading a lovely book on a cold rainy day. Learning to crochet, picking up an hobby. Singing loudly in the shower while you move your body to the rhythm of your blues. Life is what you make of it. Your very own story. You get to be the star in it.
